The Lord Reigns by Jordyn Elrod

Since this week has been a celebration of going global and raising awareness about mission opportunities all over the world, I wanted my painting to reflect the Psalm that was focused on in Shiloh, which was Psalm 96. It says, “Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous works among all peoples! … Say among the nations, ‘The Lord Reigns!'” I wanted my painting to reflect this idea of globally united praise. That no matter where we are from, or what shade our hands are, that we can join together, lifting those hands to worship the Creator of the universe. I chose to write “The Lord Reigns” in Hebrew since that was the original language the Psalms were written in and again stretch our praise outside the English language. We are united not only as a body of believers on Samford’s campus, but we can also see the bigger picture. Other nations are a part of our extended family and we can spread God’s love “For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised!”
